The Canton, Mich. Observer & Eccentric newspaper recently acknowledged EQ – The Environmental Quality Company for the management of Canton’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Round-Up on September 10, 2011. Over 210,000 pounds of hazardous waste was collected this year including: mercury, motor oil, flammable liquids, aerosols, pesticides, corrosives, lead acid, batteries, propane, bio-medical sharps, latex paint, fire extinguishers and electronic waste.
EQ kept the day moving steadily and efficiently helping process a total of 1,490 cars. Because of EQ’s help, no one waited longer than ten minutes to drop of their hazardous waste and there was never a back up on the public roadway. EQ properly handled all disposal activities at the event which lasted from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m.
Throughout the day, EQ helped collect 18,750 gallons of latex paint and non-regulated materials, two pails of mercury, five cubic yards of aerosol, 1,000 gallons of bulk motor oil, 1,960 gallons of flammable liquids, 160 gallons of liquid pesticide, 19,348 pounds of electronic waste, 120 gallons of corrosive material, 8,450 pounds of batteries, 40 gallons of oxidizers and two and a half pallets of propane, In all, an average of 141 pounds per car was collected.
