EQ’s Midwest Remediation Division (MRD) recently began working on a large component of the Ottawa River Remediation Project. This project adds to EQ’s already extensive resume for river clean-ups in the Midwest.
The Ottawa River, a tributary of the Maumee Bay in Toledo, Ohio, is being remediated under the Great Lakes Legacy Act. This act combines public funds in combination with private sector “voluntary” contributions to clean the tributaries to the Great Lakes.
EQ will be performing stabilization, on-site management, transportation, and disposal of an estimated 20,000 tons of TSCA sediment. Wayne Disposal, Inc. located in Bellville, MI will be receiving the material this fall. The process of dredging and dewatering the sediments on-site has begun and EQ anticipates starting to move material in early November.
This project demonstrates EQ’s unique ability to not only perform the work on site, but also provide transportation services and serve as the final disposal facility of the contaminated material.
