10 Steps To A More Eco-Friendly Daily Life

10 Steps To A More Eco-Friendly Daily LifeWe do not have to change our whole life right away – just remember that everyday activities can have a significant impact on the future of our planet. Seemingly insignificant things, repeated many times each day by hundreds of people around the world, contribute to the faster destruction of the natural environment. However, if we remember good habits, we can look after our planet on a daily basis. The changes are worth starting with the simplest issues – get to know 4 tips that will help you protect the environment!

1. Save energy

Saving energy is easier than you think and can take many forms. Starting with the light – do not leave the light on even when you leave the room for only a few minutes. If you have the option, replace the bulbs with energy-saving ones. Do not leave equipment, such as a TV set, the computer in standby mode. You can save energy by lowering the heating temperature – just one step! How to save in the kitchen? If you want to boil water, cover the pot with a lid – this will reduce energy consumption by almost ¼! Remember also to use the dishwasher in economy mode.

2. Segregate the garbage

About 1.5 million tonnes of artificial waste is produced annually in homes. It is worth re-processing them, because the plastic decomposition process is several thousand years old. That is why it is so important to segregate rubbish properly and to recycle it later. Understanding the rules of segregation is just as important as selecting waste! The first step should be to find the nearest area for separate waste collection and to read the instructions on the containers. These rules can be easily transferred to our homes. In most places you can find special containers for paper (no food leftovers) or bottles (clean). Sometimes you can also find containers such as cans. You can also go a step further – what if you eliminate some products and you will not buy them anymore? Have you tried to drink tap water instead of the bottle? Or make carbonated water yourself instead of buying it in the store? Or maybe choose a drink in the bottle instead of the one in a can?

3. Recycling

We do not advise you, of course, to re-melt the plastic 😉 To some extent, each of us can take care of domestic recycling. How? A wide field for showing off gives so-called DIY. Use the old jeans to create comfortable shorts or a tasteful skirt. Make some new vegetables from the leftover vegetables. Toys that your child does not use anymore, give to the needy. There are many ideas – give a second life to unnecessary items!

4. Save water

Saving water should be a daily priority. Not many of us realize how small water resources are. According to independent surveys, we are in the rankings in a less honorable group of countries with poor water resources. Start with simple changes – turn off the tap when you brush your teeth or install a water-saving aerator tip in the tap. Do not unnecessarily pour water, which you can use, for example, for watering plants. Use a dishwasher that is much more economical than a handwash. To protect the environment, use capsules that do not contain phosphates. Also, abandon the initial rinsing of the dishes, so you will consume much less water. Saving in the kitchen: Fairy’s research shows that rinsing the dishes before loading them into the dishwasher has been considered an important stage in the washing process for years. 60% of respondents think that it is absolutely necessary. Only 19% of households do not flush dishes before loading the dishwasher, and over 40% of pots and pans are washed by hand. Why, then, do we rinse the dishes all the time before loading the dishwasher? Mainly because we are afraid that there will be leftovers on the dishes. With the new Fairy tablets without phosphates, we can forget about the initial manual rinsing: the new Fairy formula removes them the first time. Thanks to this, washing becomes easier and easier. What’s more, we save not only time and energy, but also water.
